The last couple of days in the Alps were finally filled with sun. We got to see incredible views of the mountains all around. My top three views were from the peak of Mannlichen; on Piz Gloria, the very top of Schilthorn; and from Birg, a cable car station right below Piz Gloria. I will share pictures from the last two in the next blog post, as this one is just about Mannlichen...
When we finally made it home, we were so overwhelmed by the gorgeous scenes of the Alps that we thought nothing could be better. Until the next day...
After taking a cog train from Lauterbrunnen and a lift from Wengen, we covered the last stretch to the tip of Mannlichen on foot
Mannlichen (2,343m) and Kleine Scheidegg (2,061m) - bottom center of the map

At the very top!
The stunning Alps

Looking at the Monch (4,107m)
Is this real or is it wallpaper???
Pure beauty
Late summer in the Alps this year - on the trail from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg
At Eiger Nordwand in Kleine Scheidegg, we had the best Swiss rosti...
... and the best ever ice-cream :)
After the nicest lunch and much needed rest at Kleine Scheidegg (2,061m), we decided to hike around the Lauberhorn ridge past Wengernalp and Allmend to Wengen (1,274m) and then all the way down to the bottom of the valley - Lauterbrunnen (796m)
We saw many beautiful flowers on the way
Rugged and ragged Lauberhorn

Murren, our home village, sits on the cliff on the opposite side, above the waterfall.
When we finally made it home, we were so overwhelmed by the gorgeous scenes of the Alps that we thought nothing could be better. Until the next day...
