Kotor is a dreamy town situated on the Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska). While in Montenegro, we made Kotor our base and stayed at Apartments Luka, only a short walk from the Old Town. At the heart of Old Town Kotor (Stari Grad) is the gorgeous fortress built during the Venetian period! No wonder it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Several times during our stay, we got to explore Kotor's fortress and all its Medieval churches, walk through the maze of Old Town streets, and climb the big mountain overlooking the bay - and luckily at different times: morning, day, and night.
I wish I could fully describe this incredible place to you, but then I would have to write a book, not a blog entry! I also wish I could express to you the joy I felt strolling around Kotor. It would be insurmountable to create a complete and true profile of Kotor, even with all the pictures we took there. But if I had to summarize it for you, I would simply say that to me...

Once Upon A Time, in Old Town Kotor...
Morning Views
The main entry gate of the Kotor fortress. The sign reads:
"What belongs to others we don't want, ours we don't give."

After a nice morning stroll, we found a square with a cafe: coffee and people watching make it a great combo |
I know that Turkish coffee is THE drink of the Balkans, but I LOVE my Bijela Kafa (coffee with milk) |
Another Hot, Busy Day
Sunset Time
Hundreds of cruise or bus tourists descend on Kotor every day! This lovely group happens to be a bunch of rich Russians |
Old Town After Dark
The water pump makes this intersection one of the busiest ones at Old Town, no matter day or night

Wait! What!? This bar is showing Charlie Chaplin movies outdoors. Let's get a shot or two of Slivovica here! |
Ziveli! (Cheers!) is one of the 10 Serbian words you have to know when you go to the Balkans |
